How to add liquidity to a Meteora DLMM pool, step by step
This walks through a first DLMM position in Meteora's Dynamic Terminal, from picking a pool to confirming the deposit, with the SOL it costs and what you should see at each step.
- Best for
- First-time liquidity providers who hold one or both tokens of a pair and want to earn trading fees.
- You'll need
- A Solana wallet, such as Phantom, Solflare, Backpack or Jupiter Wallet
- The token or tokens you want to deposit
- About 0.06 SOL for refundable rent, plus a little more for fees
- Cost
- About 0.059 SOL of rent per position, refunded when you close it; about 0.075 SOL, not refunded, for each new bin array if your range reaches bins nobody has used; and a Jito tip. No deposit fee.
Worked example
The Create Position panel, filled in
- Position rent (refundable)
- ≈ 0.059 SOL
- New bin arrays, if any (not refundable)
- ≈ 0.075 SOL each

Step by step
Connect your wallet
On meteora.ag, connect a Solana wallet and approve the connection in it. Meteora works with wallets that follow Solana's Wallet Standard, including hardware wallets such as Ledger.[1]
Open a DLMM pool
Search the pool list by the token's contract address and open a DLMM pool. The Dynamic Terminal opens, with a TradingView price chart in the middle.[1][2]
Read the pool's numbers
In the left panel, check the base fee, bin step, dynamic fee, TVL, 24-hour volume and fees, and the 24h Fee / TVL %: the past day's fees divided by the money in the pool.[3]
Check the pool price
At the top of the position panel, compare the Current Pool Price with other markets. If it's out of line, a “Sync with Jupiter's price” button may be offered; otherwise wait for it to catch up.[3]
Click “Create Position”
On the right panel, click “Create Position”. The position form opens.[3]
Enter your amounts
Type an amount of the base or the quote token. With “Auto-Fill” on (the default), the other side fills in at the current price. To deposit one token only, switch Auto-Fill off and fill in one side.[3]
Pick a strategy
Choose “Spot”, “Curve” or “Bid-Ask”. The app calls Spot a good default if you're unsure.[3]
Set your range
The range starts at 69 bins centred on the current price. Drag the slider to narrow it, or type a Min and Max price to widen it up to 1,400 bins. In Meteora's chart, purple bins are the base token, cyan bins the quote token and grey bins other LPs' liquidity. (Our diagrams use their own colours.)[3]
Check the costs
Click “Show cost details” to see the refundable rent (the position, and any extension past 69 bins) and the non-refundable rent for new bin arrays.[3]
Add the liquidity
Click “Add Liquidity” and approve the transaction in your wallet. If it fails because the price moved, raise the liquidity slippage a little and try again.[3]
Good to know
- A narrow range earns more but goes out of range sooner; a wide range lasts longer but earns less per dollar.[3]
- Fees don't add themselves to your position: they wait until you claim them.[3]
- The “Ape In” button swaps and opens a position from a single token in one transaction.[3]
- DLMM transactions currently always go through Jito, whatever your fee settings.[1]
Before you start
Run the checks in How to check a token before you LP, and read Impermanent loss on Meteora so you know what a price move can do to your position.
Choosing a first pool
For a first position, pick a busy pool of two well-known tokens that you'd be happy to end up holding either of. The pool's bin step and base fee shape what you earn: What is DLMM? explains both.
What happens next
Your position earns only while the price is inside your range. Check on it, claim fees when you want them, and re-centre it if the price leaves your range: How to claim fees and close a position shows how.
