What holding an xStock really costs

What the issuer charges

The issuer's product pages set two fees. Stock xStocks carry no management fee today, though one of up to 0.25% a year may be introduced; ETF xStocks list the fund's own costs, 0.0945% a year for SPYx ^[1][2]. Issuing or redeeming directly with the issuer can cost up to 0.50% of the amount, and the Final Terms set a USD 100 minimum ^[3]. For its stablecoin market flow, the docs say these fees are currently set to zero, with a $5,000 minimum trade ^[4].

Kraken's risk disclosure reminds holders that every xStock is subject to the fees in the base prospectus, and that redeeming with Backed costs an additional fee ^[5].

What the venue charges

• Kraken: no trading fee when you pay with USD or USDG; other assets pay the standard Instant Buy fee, and a spread may be built into the price ^[6].
• Jupiter and other Solana apps: a swap fee set by the app, plus price impact that grows with your order and shrinks with the pool's depth ^[7].
• Order-book exchanges: maker and taker fees, and the bid-ask spread.

The spread is the cost people forget. At weekends and on market holidays nobody can create or redeem tokens, so spreads widen and price impact grows; even the issuer's own quotes are tightest in regular hours and wider in extended ones ^[8][9].

What the network charges

A Solana transfer or swap costs a small network fee, and a first token account needs a small, refundable deposit. Ethereum costs more. Bridging pays the sending chain's network fee and whatever the bridge charges, so check the total before you confirm; each product and route has a limited bridging allocation ^[10].

What tax takes

Dividends are reinvested after withholding tax at source, so the multiplier grows by the net dividend, not the gross one ^[11]. Over a year, that trails the stock's total return by the tax withheld. How your own country taxes gains and reinvested dividends is a question for a tax adviser.
