PreStocks guide Company guide
Polymarket stock: is Polymarket public, what is it worth, and what is the POLYMARKET token?
Polymarket is a private company, so there is no Polymarket stock to buy on an exchange today. A new round at a $21 billion valuation has been reported but not announced. The POLYMARKET token from PreStocks tracks its price; it is not a share, and betting on Polymarket's markets is a different thing.
Is Polymarket public?
No. Polymarket is a private company, so there is no Polymarket stock to buy on an exchange today. On 2 Oct 2026 EDGAR held no registration statement filed by Polymarket itself, and the SEC's list of company tickers had no Polymarket entry.[1][2] We found no announcement of an IPO filing or a listing date.

Funding and valuation
Intercontinental Exchange announced on 7 October 2025 that it would invest up to $2 billion in Polymarket, valuing it at roughly $8 billion before the investment. ICE also becomes a global distributor of Polymarket's event data, and the two plan to work on tokenization, Yahoo Finance reported.[3] Unchained reported that Polymarket confirmed the investment, at a $9 billion post-money valuation, and that the company was preparing to return to the American market after the CFTC effectively barred it in 2022.[4]
CoinDesk reported on 1 September 2026 that 1789 Capital, Donald Trump Jr.'s venture firm, is leading a new $1 billion round that values Polymarket at $21 billion. A 1789 spokesperson said the firm is contributing about $300 million on top of roughly $200 million it had already invested, and CoinDesk gave Polymarket's last valuation as about $15 billion.[5] Treat the $21 billion as a report, not a closed round.
What the POLYMARKET token is
POLYMARKET is a PreStocks token on Solana that follows the price of Polymarket's shares. It is not a Polymarket share: PreStocks' FAQ says its tokens confer no ownership, voting, dividend, information or other legal rights.[7] PreStocks says its tokens settle in stablecoins or tokenized public stock rather than by transferring shares, and are backed through holding entities such as SPVs.[8][9]

Owning Polymarket versus using Polymarket
Buying the POLYMARKET token, or Polymarket shares if they ever list, is a bet on the company's value. Trading on Polymarket's markets is a bet on an outcome, such as an election or a game, and gives you no stake in the company. They are different products with different risks, and this guide covers only the first.
Other ways people get Polymarket exposure
Yahoo Finance reported that Intercontinental Exchange, a listed company, is an investor in Polymarket.[3] Owning its shares gives exposure to Polymarket mixed in with everything else ICE does. PreStocks isn't open to everyone: its terms exclude U.S. persons and people in 36 named jurisdictions.[12] This page explains; it doesn't recommend buying or selling anything.
What happens to POLYMARKET tokens if Polymarket lists
PreStocks says that when a company lists, its token becomes convertible into a tokenized version of the public stock, with up to nine months to convert before the token expires worthless.[7] Polymarket hasn't listed, and PreStocks' Polymarket page showed no IPO or conversion notice on 2 Oct 2026.[6] The one worked example is SpaceX: what happens to a token at an IPO.
What to watch next
- The public S-1 on EDGAR. Look for a filing whose filer is Polymarket.[1]
- Confirmation of the $21 billion round. CoinDesk reported it; a company announcement would also give PreStocks a new last-round price to show.[5]
- A notice from PreStocks. An IPO or conversion notice would appear on its Polymarket page first.[6]
