How to verify a PreStocks token before you buy

Lookalike tokens are the cheapest scam on Solana. These five checks confirm you're holding a real PreStocks token.

Step by step

  1. Get the official mint

    Open prestocks.com, go to Products, pick the company and follow its Solscan link. That's the official mint; our token list has all nine.[1]

  2. Compare every character

    Put both addresses side by side and compare them in full. Don't stop at a matching “Pre…” prefix or the last four characters.

  3. Check the program and decimals

    On an explorer, the token should use the Token-2022 program and have 9 decimals.[2]

  4. Check the name and metadata

    The name should read “<Company> PreStocks” and its metadata should point to prestocks.com.[2]

  5. Check Jupiter

    On jup.ag/tokens/<mint>, the token should be verified; Jupiter tags official PreStocks “prestocks”.[3]

Good to know

  • Names and tickers are only metadata: anyone can mint a token called OPENAI.[4]
  • On every official mint one authority, WV9PJN…i5Wc, controls minting, freezing and fees. A lookalike shows a different one.[2]
  • Official PreStocks have mutable fees and permanent issuer control by design, so those flags alone don't mark a fake.[3]

Why two minutes, not two seconds

Vanity addresses make a “Pre…” prefix cheap to copy, and a matching ending is just as easy to fake. Comparing the whole string with the one prestocks.com links is the check a copycat can't pass.[1] Even StonkFun's pair list flags OPENAI and KALSHI as tickers other tokens share.[4]
