What is PreStocks? Tokenized pre-IPO stocks on Solana, explained
PreStocks are Solana tokens that track the share price of private companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX. They trade around the clock with no minimum, but they give you price exposure, not shares. Here is how they work, in plain language.
PreStocks in one paragraph
PreStocks issues one Solana token per private company, named after the company it tracks: ANTHROPIC, OPENAI, SPACEX, ANDURIL, KALSHI, POLYMARKET, NEURALINK and FIGUREAI, plus an XAI token that has now expired.[1] A token's price is meant to follow the gross price per share of the company it references,[2] and anyone eligible can buy a fraction of one, at any hour, from an ordinary Solana wallet.[3]
What you actually own
Holding a PreStocks token does not make you a shareholder. PreStocks' own FAQ says the tokens give indirect economic exposure and confer no ownership, voting, dividend, information or other legal rights, and that they are not affiliated with, endorsed by or issued by the companies they reference.[2] The terms call them bearer digital tokens that reference economic exposure to designated pre-IPO companies,[4] and in May 2026 PreStocks described them as Reg S debt instruments issued outside the U.S.[5]

Arbitrage loop. When tokens trade above real-world prices, eligible arbitrageurs buy exposure off-chain, mint and sell; when they trade below, they buy on-chain and sell the matching exposure. Minting and redemption need KYC.
- Holding entities hold the exposure. Special purpose vehicles (SPVs) and similar entities own shares, directly or through other funds. PreStocks says it avoids SPVs three or more layers from the company and verifies ownership up to the cap table.[5]
- PreStocks mints tokens against it. New tokens are added as exposure is acquired; the terms leave the form and mix of the collateral to PreStocks and let it change over time.[4]
- Liquidity goes on-chain. PreStocks provides official liquidity in Meteora pools, and the tokens route through Jupiter into wallets and apps.[6][2]
- Arbitrage keeps prices in line. Above real-world prices, arbitrageurs can mint and sell; below, they buy on-chain and sell the matching exposure off-chain.[2]
Why people use them
- No minimum. Traditional pre-IPO deals often ask for six- or seven-figure commitments; a PreStocks token can be bought in fractions.[7]
- 24/7 trading and instant settlement. They move like any Solana token, with no paperwork to get in or out.[2]
- Composability. PreStocks says holders can lend them, post them as collateral or provide liquidity with them.[2]
- Reach. Wallets such as Trust Wallet list them in a dedicated pre-IPO tab.[8]
What it costs
PreStocks charges no annual management fee, but it does charge fees.[2] Since September 2026 every transfer of a PreStocks token pays a transfer fee built into the token itself: on 28 Sep 2026 it was 3% on seven tokens and 1% on SpaceX.[9] The fee applies when a pool sends you tokens and again when you sell, so a round trip loses about 6% before pool fees and price impact. The details are in PreStocks fees explained.
What happens at an IPO or acquisition
When a company lists, its PreStocks token becomes convertible into a tokenized version of the public stock; holders get up to nine months after the IPO to convert, after which the token expires worthless.[2] SpaceX is the first live case: it listed on 12 June 2026,[10] and SpaceX PreStocks must be swapped by 11:59pm UTC on 12 March 2027.[11] Acquisitions work the same way with a six-month window; XAI expired on 12 September 2026 after SpaceX bought xAI.[12] See the SpaceX playbook and the xAI case.
Who can use PreStocks
PreStocks is not available in the United States, to U.S. persons, or in any of the 36 jurisdictions its terms name, among them Singapore, mainland China, Russia and Ukraine.[4] Buying and selling in DeFi needs no KYC; minting and redemption do.[2][5] The full list is in who can buy PreStocks.
The short version
PreStocks turned pre-IPO exposure into an ordinary Solana token, and it grew fast: its site reported more than $1.75 billion of volume and over 100,000 holders by late September 2026.[3] The trade-off is trust. You rely on PreStocks' holding entities, its attestations and its discretion over fees and token controls, and you get price exposure rather than shares. If that works for you, verify the token before you buy.
