Claude is a product, not a company

Claude is the family of AI models and the apps Anthropic makes; Anthropic describes its growth in terms of the businesses and people using Claude.^[1] You can't buy shares in a product, so "Claude stock" really means Anthropic stock, and Anthropic is private.

Can you buy Anthropic instead?

Not on a stock exchange yet. Anthropic confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC on 1 June 2026, but it hasn't set a date, a price or a ticker.^[2][3] Until it lists, the routes are indirect: companies and funds that own part of Anthropic, marketplaces limited to accredited investors, and, outside the U.S., tokens that track its price. Watch out for anything called Claude

A crypto coin or token that uses the Claude name is not a share in Anthropic. Anthropic says anyone selling its shares to the public through tokenized securities or similar mechanisms is likely offering an investment that may have no value, and that it doesn't issue stock certificates to the public.^[4] A coin that simply borrows the name gives you no claim on the company at all.
