How to buy Anthropic stock: every route, in and outside the US

First: there's no Anthropic stock on an exchange yet

Anthropic, PBC has confidentially filed for an IPO but has not set a date, a price or a ticker.^[7] Until it lists, its shares are private: Anthropic sells them in funding rounds, and existing holders can sell only with its board's approval.^[2] Anything sold to you as "Anthropic stock" today is one of the routes below, or a scam.

Every route, compared

Companies and funds that hold Anthropic

The simplest exposure you can buy on an ordinary exchange is a company or fund that owns part of Anthropic. Amazon's 10-Q describes $8 billion invested in Anthropic convertible notes between 2023 and 2025 and $10 billion of nonvoting preferred stock in the second quarter of 2026 ($5 billion each in Series G and Series H), and says that quarter's $50.5 billion of upward adjustments to its private investments came primarily from its Anthropic preferred stock.^[3] Zoom carried its Anthropic preferred stock at $3.1 billion on 31 July 2026.^[9] Either way you also buy the rest of the company, and you can't choose how much of your money is Anthropic.

Some funds hold Anthropic. The ARK Venture Fund reported 4.19% of its net assets in Anthropic shares on 31 July 2026; it is an unlisted interval fund that buys back only about 5% of its shares each quarter.^[14][4] The Fundrise Innovation Fund reported 16.5% on 31 March 2026, held through co-investment vehicles, and its own report says its listed shares at one point traded at a huge premium to their underlying value.^[10] Destiny Tech100's August 2026 prospectus supplement shows 14.4% in Magnitude ANC III, LLC, a vehicle with economic exposure to Anthropic preferred shares.^[15] Anthropic says it doesn't recognize SPV-based interests.^[2] The Motley Fool, citing a mid-August Bloomberg report, said at least eight U.S.-listed ETFs hold Anthropic, the largest weight 5.2%.^[16] Holdings, fees and eligibility change, so check each fund's latest report.

Secondary marketplaces and SPVs

Platforms such as Nasdaq Private Market match buyers with existing shareholders, but only accredited investors can trade Anthropic there, and each sale needs Anthropic's board approval.^[5][2] In the U.S. an accredited investor broadly means income above $200,000 ($300,000 with a spouse) in each of the last two years, or a net worth above $1 million not counting your home.^[17]

In May 2026 Anthropic named eight firms it said were not authorized to buy or sell its shares, including new offerings on Hiive and Forge Global.^[18] It also bars SPVs outright: any transfer of shares to an SPV is void, it says.^[2]

Outside the U.S.: tokens and perpetual futures

Outside the U.S., two crypto products track Anthropic's price without giving you shares. The PreStocks ANTHROPIC token on Solana follows the per-share price and pays a transfer fee on every move; it isn't available to U.S. persons or in 35 other named jurisdictions.^[11][6] Pre-IPO perpetual futures on crypto exchanges are cash-settled bets on Anthropic's valuation with no shares behind them.^[13] Anthropic's warning covers anyone selling its shares through tokenized securities: it says such offers may have no value.^[2] The ANTHROPIC token page covers the token in detail.

When Anthropic lists

Once Anthropic's shares trade, buying them works like any other listed stock. Before that, some brokers may offer IPO shares at the offer price: for SpaceX's June 2026 IPO, the prospectus named Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood and SoFi as retail selling-group members, plus E*TRADE.^[20] Anthropic hasn't named any retail program, and most IPO shares go to institutions, so an allocation is never guaranteed.^[8] The Anthropic IPO tracker will note the filing that names the exchange and ticker.
